Info on PES6 On 20/09/06 by ed On October 20th 27th PES 6 will be out for the Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP and DS formats. Microsoft are believed to have secured the rights to be the only next-gen console to play it for 12 months. I'm not sure what this means to be honest because XBox 360 is the only next-gen console out at the moment.
As far as advancements on the recent game, there isn't much info about. The recent Seabass' inteview with CVG sheds some light on what advancements they are working on:
We probably have to break up all the things we have built online, probably create something new from scratch, but we have already started to do that and it's like, what we're trying to achieve is like all your modes and all the modes you have in a normal online first-person shooter, and we want to do that and give the users that feeling, like they're playing the most sophisticated and online titles.
.. I think we can go into multiplayer and maybe not 11 versus 11 next year, but something close to that. Apart from that we would also like to also experiment doing online leagues, online tournaments and things like that and maybe online Master League mode as well.
Quoted from here
I think the 11 vs 11 is an excellent idea, and adding more than just one per-game league for the online part is a move in the right direction. But it's unclear whether these will be implemented in PES 6.
This article on CVG goes into what's new with PES 6. In summary:
- Player animations
- Strikers slam their fists into the pitch after dragging a shot wide of the post and look to the heavens after scuffing a shot.
- Defenders appeal for offside and strikers for handball.
- More referees responses.
- More detail of player individuality.
- Weather
- Weather changes during a match. This may force a change in players tactics.
- Referees more lenient
Referees let the game go which makes it flow better. Your front line is far less likely to be flagged offside with the more lenient officials running matches, and they'll also turn a blind eye to challenges which would have stopped play in PES5.
That's what CVG have noticed for the PS2 version. To be honest, going off that, it's not a great deal of advancement or innovation - it looks more like patches and tweaks. One thing's for certain though, I hope they fix things like:
- Stupid niggly fouls
- The poor online ranking system. A player with more points seems to have players who a little bit faster and more elusive. Also the lesser ranked player's players seem to miss the target more often. This is completely wrong. The best players shouldn't get perks like this - they should just be better, and not have a helping hand from the CPU.
- A better shot aiming system - it's OK - but you need to feel that your shots are going where you point them.
- A total online interface renewal. More gaming options - A lobby? An 11 v 11? A cup competition? Oh, and a change of background track wouldn't go amiss!
- Lower ranked teams aren't necessarily slower or weaker, but they appear that way. They should have less skills but not slower or weaker.
- Some players are ridiculously better than others. It just isn't the case with a lot of comparisons.
- Weird passing. When you're close to the touch line, sometimes a player will casually pass a through-ball out of play. Just stupid.
Here's hoping Konami fix stuff, but also introduce new features - especially with the online format.
PES 6 will be released on October the 20th 27th on Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP and DS formats and you can pre-order it here.
